Hidden Oak Winery

I went to this winery while doing my spring trip tour around Paso Robles. As you walk into this winery you'll find a flat screen TV on the side of the tasting room with the golf channel on.  My wife who was with me was very glad to see this and was stuck on watching golf during our tasting.  That was, until the owner Mike walked in wearing golf clothes.  My wife and him hit it off immediately, as she's a golfer too.  When he found out that we were from Sonoma county he said "so you're here to taste some real wines!" Mike was a hoot and made our tasting very enjoyable.  I loved tasting their Petite Sirah and Zinfandel.  The 2009 Petite Sirah took a double gold medal from the SF chronicle wine competition. One of the best Petite Sirah's I've had yet.

Shone Farms Winery

Me and my wife were here during the Strawberry Festival.  Very family friendly environment.  When I went into the pavilion there was wine-tasting, so I got to taste some of the wines produced by the Santa Rosa Junior College students.  Their Syrah and Zinfandel were amazing.  The Syrah was actually an award-winner and I ended up leaving with a bottle of it.
The Gallo family sponsored the wine lab, which was pretty cool to see.  We also signed up for their produce service, and receive a box of farm fresh groceries weekly.  I like the idea of buying local and having it come directly to my kitchen from.
